The Rules of the road are simple, as long as your gear and positioning are correct. It is easy to remember with the four-point conversion and drop back plays.
Four-Point Conversion
1st Down - Sit all the way back against the seat, and make sure your knees bend naturally at the seat edge when you sit in the car.
2nd Down - Buckle the lap and shoulder belt.
3rd Down - Be sure the shoulder belt lies snug over your shoulder or collarbone, not your neck or face. The lap belt should touch the upper thighs.
4th Down - Maintain the correct seating position the entire trip, and never put the seat belt behind your back or under your arm.
Drop Back
Ride in the back seat if you are under 13 years old. Children are 40 percent more likely to be injured in a front seat than in the back. Over half of all crashes involve the front of the vehicle; so all passengers are safer in the back seat.
